We make no secret of being long-time fans of Vanessa Gonzalez. She's made Austin and Texas proud by sharing so many great stories about her life growing up in the Rio Grande Valley. The HBO, Lopez vs Lopez, and Comedy Central star is our comedy hometown hero and she's taping her latest special at Creek and Cave December 12-13 and you'd be ridiculous if you missed it. Listen to our past podcast episodes with her to hear why we're such big fans.

Amma Marfo isn't an Austinite, but she's been a part of Austin's Lysistrata Comedy Festival, SXSW, and loves performing here. She's bringing her show to ColdTowne Theater this month. Fidget. Spinster. is an extended standup show that pulls its perspective on modern dating from research, interviews with dating experts, and stories from the frontlines – good, bad, and exhausting. And what better way to convince you to check out this show than to hear it in her own words (she had us at tacos):
When I thought about where to bring fidget. spinster., an innovative and insightful new hour of comedy that combines storytelling, standup, and Power Point-style delivery, Austin came to mind immediately. It's creative. It's a little weird, like me! It's incredibly easy to eat tacos nonstop. I am so excited to share this show with the community of caring, thoughtful, and discerning comedy fans I've come to know this city for. Single or not, on the apps or happily flying solo, there's something here for you. I hope you'll come see it. -- Amma
