Kandace Medina is a pre-pandemic comic who has reached her stride in the aftermath. Host of the wildly popular Sunday night mic, Banana Phone, frequent guest of KLBJ FM's Matt and Bob Morning Show, and Moontower Comedy Festival darling, Medina is unflappable, wild, and not afraid to bring you a wild evening of laughs. She's one of my favorites and if you haven't seen her lately, what are you waiting for?

Taking over The Creek and the Cave and Esther's Follies, SXSW Comedy is a smaller affair for 2026, but still packs the usual star-studded punch of years past. You can even catch some Austin comedy alums like Devon Walker's My Favorite Lyrics podcast live. Frequent showcase producer, Don't Tell Comedy is bringing comedy, UCB is bringing ASSSSCAT, The Moth is bringing stories, and you can find all the offerings at the schedule below.

Improv is having a big moment in Austin. With the entry of UCB into the Austin comedy scene, will we see more big venue improv performances? We sure hope so!
ACL Live is hosting Holy Shit Improv and Dropout Improv this month. Since improv is by its nature unpredictable, we can't guess what will happen during the shows other than laughter in the hands of the master improvisers behind both shows.
Holy Shit Improv: Saturday March 7, 6:00pm at ACL Live: Tickets
Dropout Improv: Tuesday March 17, 7:00pm at ACL Live: Tickets
